Finding yourself down, depleted and disconnected because of how much you give of your time and energy to others?
I want to offer you 5 Tips to Give Back to the Giver!
Get ready to treat yourself!
Tip #1 - Create Personal Presence
It can be as simple as taking 5 minutes each day to just 'tune in' to you... Taking notice of your body, your mood and your emotions. If you feel like finding a free 5 minutes is difficult, why not turn an ordinary shower time, into a time of Shower Me with Love festival. While in the shower, be intentional about acknowledging this physical body that you've been gifted, the vessel that is uniquely yours. Take time to notice the parts that make up the whole, and give gratitude for it's continued support as the carrier of your soul.
Tip #2 - Don't be so hard on yourself!
I'll let this image speak for itself...
Tip #3 - Learn to say "enough is enough"
There comes a point when you're spent - physically and emotionally exhausted, and to give of yourself to another person would just be the tipping point. This is a great time to empower your voice! Let people know that you're just too tired (drained, emotionally exhausted, etc)! Most people will appreciate your honesty and may even offer to support you in taking time out for you. (And if they do, they're friends worth keeping)
Tip #4 - Keep the Big things big, and the Small things small
Learn to prioritise and maintain what's important to you (I'm speaking to myself on this one too!). If a weekly gym or dance class is what keeps up moral and maintains your mental health, don't let it slip through the cracks. If a nice long bath will bring you solace and comfort after a long work week, don't skip out.
And with the small things... Don't let your feathers get too ruffled if things didn't pan out just as you had hoped or intended. Have compassion on yourself, and don't make mountains out of mole hills. (Again, speaking to myself on this one!)
Tip #5 - Invest in Yourself!
If you're a parent or your 'love language' is gift giving, it can be so easy to spend money on other people, but can often be challenging to spend money on yourself. One of the ways you can really shower yourself with love, is to invest in the things that are going to nourish your soul and make you come alive! Perhaps it's a pottery or poetry course (I highly recommend this one for poetry!), perhaps a holiday away. I want to encourage you to look deeper, and recognise the areas in your life that will deeply impact the rest of this year and even the years yet to come.
You will benefit greatly from investing in the things that nourish you at the core of who you are.
If you're ready to invest in your own inner healing, click here to apply for a FREE 30-min assessment Connection Session with me. While this won't cost you financially, it is still an investment of your time and energy, and is a sign to yourself and the world, that you are ready and willing to invest in YOU!
